Match Play. 0-0 to 9. How should Red play 54?


Clearly the five must be played bar/20. Red can then choose between 9/5*, 24/20 and 13/9.

 

The hit is a blunder leaving three blots and multiple return shots.

 

It is a close call between 13/9 and 24/20. However, there is no urgency to make White’s 5-pt and 24/20 still leaves multiple return shots.

 

13/9, is solid and and sensible. 24/20 is a mistake but not technically an error.
