Match Play. 0-0 to 5. How should Red play 64?
Red needs to take advantage of his stronger home board and play for contact.
8/2, 6/2 exerts no presuure on White.
In contrast 24/18, 13/9 does put pressure on White to perform. 24/14 is the wrong game plan. 13/9, 13/7 is a reasonable try but 24/18, 13/9 also starts a high anchor for Red.
The checkers need to be put to work and 24/18, 13/9 is the best way to do that because White’s sixes will have to be used to hit on his side of the board and hence his rear checker is likely to have to remain in situ.
