Match Play. Blue trails 3-6 to 13. Should Blue redouble to 8? If redoubled, should White take?
For money this would be a beaver for White if Blue redoubled. If the cube was on 2 this would be no redouble.
However, the redouble to 8 kills the cube for White and renders his gammons meaningless.
All of this adds up to a redouble and a very easy take. Not redoubling is an error. 11% of the time Blue wins a gammon and the match.
A high cube and a skewed score can give rise to some very interesting redoubling situations such as here. Blue wins only 45% of the time but those gammons tip the balance.
