Match Play. Double Match Point. How should Red play 54?

The 16-pt must be kept as 16/7 is too dangerous. That leaves 13/4 or 13/9, 13/8.

In such situations which point would you rather your opponent had to give up to hit you? The answer is his anchor on your 5-pt – he must give up the security of that anchor if he wants to hit. In addition, 13/4 takes a checker beyond the field of play and leaves 17 shots instead of just 12.

13/9, 13/8 is very clear here.

      13/4 looks right to me.

13/8,13/9. something has to give, and this play creates some robustness and flexibility for a couple of moves at least.
